The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
Frost is one poet you will never get tired of reading!
And, when you think of Frost these are the lines which are sure to come to your mind!
I have always loved teaching Frost, specially if it is “Stopping by the woods on a snowy evening”. That is one poem I never get tired of reading, never get tired teaching and never get tired of reciting!
There are so many things associated with “Stopping by the woods……” . If I just look back at my Jeeva Velu days, I am sure to find a lotta things connected to Stopping by the woods…. The English Exhibition that I used to organize year after year was sure to have a touch of Frost. The most exciting one was making the still model of the poem! We managed to make it with a lot of cotton for snow, black charts for the road along the woods and pine leaves for the woods. And most of all, I loved the cute lil girl Ramya Ramprakash reciting and explaining the poem to the visitors.
Those days are unforgettable!
How I miss them all!
Those days are unforgettable!
How I miss them all!
Today, Stopping by the woods …..continues to be my best loved poem, and I love it when my little one recites it without missing a line! I was amazed when he managed to memorize the lines so well! Well, I have this habit of reciting the poem, when I cook, when I walk to school and even when I simply while away my time. Hearing me recite, he too started reciting! Like mom, like son!
He too seems to love Frost!
Wow...great post...
