That Vs This

Since March, 2020 many words and phrases got added to our active vocabulary. Quarantine, pandemic, super-spreader, asymptomatic, social distancing, herd immunity, xenophobia, oximeter, covidiot, immunocompromised, comorbidity, zoombombing, morona are a few of the words which we come to use knowingly or unknowingly in our daily conversations.

These new additions are not just restricted to our vocab list. There were deletions too!

For Ladies🙎,
Mask became a regular ornament. Sanitizer replaced the lotions. Lip-stick was left touched. Earrings lost its importance. Culinary skills improved. Old hobbies got restored.

For Kids🤵,
Swiggy and Zomato were forgotten! Classrooms got virtual. Zoom became the favourite App. Eating turned out to be their new hobby.

For Men🧔,
Work from home and work for home became the new ‘normal’. Interests got substituted. Everything else got closed down. Their world got confined to four walls!

For Oldies👴,
Life became more boring than ever. Phone calls are their only solace. Only pastime is looking out through the window/ balcony.

This may be different in different households. But, with the wink of an eye, our days changed dramatically. With the grand entry of an invisible virus, our days underwent drastic changes! Our lives too! Never did we imagine we would live like caged birds! Not even in our wildest dreams had we ever thought of going through these house-arrest sort of situations!

People who boasted to be busy, people who thought work from home was a crazy idea, people who thought they are able to rule the world with their power and money - everyone sat at home without moving out an inch!

Yet, there are good things about the pandemic times.

We took our eyes and mind for a journey to unexplored territories of our own lives. We started wearing masks; but we could make out the invisible masks that many wore before the pandemic! We came to terms with the fact that the physical masks are far better than the invisible masks that people wear! We could make out what we believed with all our soul was just make-belief! We could see the real concern and commitment of people and what really mattered to them! It is true that adverse situations bring out the real faces/selves!The pandemic was an eye-opener for many - rather a brain-opener!

Being depressed doesn't help; let us sail through these storms until we spot the shores of solace, though our lives will never be the same. Yet, let's hope the Sun and the Moon will soon rise to better days and nights!

We can't deny that this pandemic has brought a posituve approach towards life! Everything happens for a reason! We have only read in fairy tales stories about princess being quarantined in castles to meet their prince charming! I do hope after this quarantine we all will have a different healthy approach towards our life, looking forward eagerly!
